Mokume Gane - An ancient form of Japanese metalsmithing which creates "wood grain in metal." 27 very thin layers of sterling silver and copper are heat and pressure laminated (no solder or glue), then repeatedly drilled, pounded, twisted and flatened until a "wood grain" pattern emerges. The process takes a great deal of time and every piece is entirely unique and one-of-a-kind.
This one measures approximately 9/16" long by 3/8" in diameter. 
The bead is set off on each end with a 14k gold-filled ring and it's hung on a slender 20 inch braided leather cord with a small magnetic clasp.
