I designed this hammered gold and sterling silver pendant to present a strong masculine image. 
The focal point of this piece utilizes a lightly hammered 14k gold-filled disc. I used gold-filled material to keep the cost down but don't confuse gold-filled with gold plated, which I never use. Gold-filled material is comprised of a layer of solid gold that is pressure laminated to piece of base material, whereas gold plated is a process that deposits an extremely thin layer of gold onto metal. Gold plating will typically only last for a short while until it wears off. 
Gold filled jewelry is durable and can last as long as solid gold, but at a fraction of the cost.  
The back and sides of the pendant have a soft bead-blasted finish to contrast nicely with the shinier  center piece. 
I chose an 18" gunmetal colored chain made from stainless steel, which will never tarnish and incorporates a large lobster clasp.
The overall look is refined and suitable for dress or everyday wear.
